Joe - That makes sense. Happens up in the desert all the time and barely even makes the news.
(Even scarier? Sometimes they brew the stuff in vans and trailers moving down the highway.)
Glad you're ok.

TSW,
It blowed up real good. The off-the-record guess from those in the know? Meth lab.
All is well.

I've never heard of "East Deutschtown", but that strikes me as the most apt description.

You and your North Side living were my first thought when I read the Post-Gazette this morning.

Rob,
Might have something to do with the fact that the construction of the Parkway North bisected an old neighborhood and left the part where the explosion took place in kind of a no-man's-land situation.
Of course, ignorance is indeed a possible explanation for some things as well.

Today, the location of this explosion's been described on TV as Deutschtown, East Deutschtown, East Allegheny, Spring Hill, Troy Hill, and Spring Garden.
How can Pittsburghers be so completely ignorant of their own city's geography? It boggles the mind.
