Penguins!

Penguins_3A great NHL season is for the birds

Saturday, June 28, is officially Pittsburgh Penguins Day at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh’s scenic Central North Side. In honor of the team's terrific season, the Aviary's own lineup -- Stanley, Elvis, Patrick, Simon and Sidney -- will greet guests during a penguin parade. Afterward, Sidney, named for player Sidney Crosby, will pose for photos while Iceburgh, the Pittsburgh Penguins mascot, will be on hand to meet with visitors. Guests wearing Pittsburgh Penguins gear receive $2 off general admission.

Those dressed as The Penguin from the Batman TV series will be turned away at the door. Also, there is no truth to the rumor that the new Russian hockey league will try to lure Sidney the Real Penguin away from the Aviary with an offer of 12.5 million herring, tax-free.

National Aviary is open daily 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $9.00 adults; $8.00 seniors; $7.50 ages 2-12; children under 2 admitted free. For more information call 412-323-7235 or go here.
